Utrecht Summer School in Biofabrication & 3D printing

July 7 2023

This year marked the 10th edition of the Utrecht summer school on biofabrication and 3D printing held by ENLIGHT coordinator, UMC Utrecht.

Additive manufacturing (3D printing) uses a layer-by-layer principle for manufacturing. This one-week course provided insight into the opportunities of additive manufacturing technologies and 3D (bio)printing in biomedical applications. It delivered the basics of 3D printing, including hands-on workshops with 3D printers, in which the students interacted with experts demonstrating the working principles and applications of multiple bioprinting technologies. Combined with lectures from renowned experts in the field of Biofabrication, the course yielded insight into the challenges encountered when translating 3D printing towards biomedical applications.

The Utrecht Summer School on 3dprinting and biofabrication closed its 10th edition, with an inspiring lecture from Scientific Advisory Board member, Dr. Laura De Laporte, and with the students presenting their own ideas on tackling different bioprinting applications. Thanks to all the attendees for making this week so fun and vibrant, and kudos to the winners of the 2023 Biofab Utrecht presentation award! Looking forward to hear more of your future endeavours!
